We take great pride in the puppies we produce. We follow the Code of Ethics of the Golden Retriever Club of America for responsible ownership and breeding.
All of our dogs come from breeding stock which at minimum, have all of the recommended health clearances by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. Usually, there are other screens in addition to these such as thyroid or PRCD-PRA.
The puppies are whelped in our home, and are kept inside until approximately 4 weeks of age. From the time of birth, each puppy is marked and is regularly weighed to insure each puppy has a proper weight gain.
The puppies receive regular wormings, vaccinations, and health checks during their time with us. Before going to their new home, each puppy gets their dew claws removed, and is microchipped.
At 7 weeks of age, each puppy is assessed using the Volhard puppy aptitude test (PAT). The Volhard test helps us determine the personality traits for each pup. This helps us to identify certain characteristics such as sight and sound sensitivity, submission vs. dominance, retrieving drive, etc. We use the data we collect, and from our own experience with the pups, to match with the desires of their prospective owners. That is why we have each prospective buyer fill out a questionnaire.
The pups will go to the their new homes with a puppy package including breed specific information, feeding and health requirements, a sample of food, a health guarantee, and AKC registration information.
All of our puppies go an a limited registration. Upon notification that all of the recommended OFA health screens have been obtained, we will gladly change this to a full registration.
After you leave with your puppy, we will follow up with you to see how things are going. We encourage you to maintain contact with us as we are very concerned about how your puppy/dog is doing, both in the short and long run.
